The Galapagos Affair – Satan Came to Eden will screen on Tuesday, June 10 at 7:15pm, at the VFS’s new state of the art location, 420 E. Santa Clara St. Tickets are $10 general, $7 for seniors and $5 for students. Darwin meets Hitchcock in “The Galapagos affair-satan Came to Eden”, a gripping tale of idealistic dreams gone awry. Set in the brutal yet alluring landscape of the Galapagos Islands in the 1930s, this feature-length documentary features voice-over performances by Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Connie Nielsen, Sebastian Koch, Thomas Kretschmann, Gustaf Skarsgard and Josh Radnor. Filmmakers Dan Geller & Dayna Goldfine skillfully interweave a notorious unsolved murder mystery with stories of present day Galapagos pioneers, among them a handful of Europeans, Americans and Ecuadoreans who settled idiosyncratically on the Islands between the 1930s and 1960s. Their film is a parable about the search for paradise, about what happens when a handful of individualists settle on the same small island seeking their own distinct and sometimes clashing notions of eden.
