Mafioso will screen on Tuesday, May 7, at 7:15pm, at the VFS’s new state of the art location, 420 East Santa Clara Street. Tickets are $10, $7 for students and seniors.Antonio (the hilarious and brilliant Alberto Sordi, the Italian Peter Sellers) is a good-natured auto factory supervisor living in Milan with his beautiful, sophisticated Northern wife and two young daughters. With fifteen days of hard-earned vacation coming to him, he decides to take his family on vacation to his beloved hometown of Calamo, Sicily, so they can finally meet his family. He’s excited to show them off and dispel his wife’s negative stereotypes about Sicilians. He even tries to calm her fears over the dreaded Mafia. Antonio assures her that being a Mafioso as a teen only amounted to him being a messenger boy for Calamo’s still-reigning godfather, Don Vincenzo. But as Antonio reconnects with his past, he finds out that there are more sides to being a Sicilian than he remembers, and more unspoken obligations.
