January 16, 2014 @ 11:00 am - March 10, 2014 @ 5:00 pm
Art show with Johanna Spinks, Sherron Sheppard, and JoAnne Duby.
Johanna Spinks, originally from the UK, started out as a Hollywood makeup artist before transitioning into oil portraiture. She has been featured in The New York Times, American Artist Magazine and Art Talk, and 58 of her portraits are included in the Museum of Ventura County’s permanent collection. She has taught at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art and the California Art Institute and was the California state ambassador for the Portrait Society of America.
Her work is passionate and colorful, and since she paints from life, Johanna is frequently asked to give demonstrations of her life painting techniques. She is primarily a portrait artist, but also enjoys painting landscapes and still-lifes.
Sherron Sheppard
A life long resident of Ventura County, Sherron Sheppard learned to paint at an early age and later transitioned into watercolors. After years of painting, Sheppard became interested in photography. Sheppard took first place in the student division of Ventura County’s American Advertising Federation Addy Competition and decided to make photography a second career starting a wedding photography business with her husband, Ron.
With Sheppard’s background repairing microwave radio equipment and fiber optics during her 28-year career with General Telephone, she naturally embraced the emergence of digital technology. Utilizing this new technology, Sheppard realized she could meld both her traditional art style and her photographic style. Sheppard’s photographs are a combination of many pieces of photographs melded together to create a new and unique piece of art. When Sheppard photographs a scene, she sees what it “could be” and then starts to collect the elements that are needed to create that vision.
In addition to photography, Sheppard paints in her studio located at Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo. Sheppard also conducts ongoing workshops with the Equine Photographers Network and creates fine art jewelry with her daughter, Tracy Jones.

JoAnne Duby
