About the Book

You’re invited to step into a lifetime of subterfuge in the dual life of Lucy Hicks Anderson and the tragedy of the Gordon family. In the end, “Linked Lives” reveals the connections between these two families in the most unexpected and mysterious way. You’ll journey through two states, three counties and 40 years of deception and disguise.

The main character leads an enigmatic life. Lucy’s road sees fame, fortune, deception, discovery and eventually her downfall. Linked Lives follows Miss Lucy Hicks on her journey from Silver City, New Mexico, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties in California as she works with some of the most prominent family founders of a growing community. Over time, Lucy’s ‘true’ identity unravels. Her well-kept secrets are exposed and she becomes the victim of her misrepresentations. What led to her downfall – was it a misunderstanding, a misconception or simply a sign of the times?

In a bizarre event involving the death of his beloved dog, you meet the Gordon family. Deputy Sheriff Bill Gordon takes revenge on the cat he feels is responsible for his dog’s demise. A confrontation with the cat’s owner reveals Gordon’s unmanaged anger issues which results in the near fatal beating of the man; the consequences of those actions demand justice. Alcohol addiction further complicates Gordon’s anger issues and lead to this once upstanding peace officer’s world spiraling into the destruction of his life. His wife, fearing for the safety of herself and her daughter flee the family home. The two find solace, safety and a new beginning many miles away in Pismo Beach where they integrate into the community and life is good…for a while.

Gordon’s dedication to his family becomes his downfall and a surprising connection will finally expose how these two families are linked, leaving readers shaking their heads in disbelief.
