February 28, 2014 @ 11:00 am - May 25, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

The renowned Camarillo-based artist Omar d’Leon is best known for his brilliant sgraffito paintings of magical scenes inspired by mythology and life in his native Nicaragua.  Now, for the first time, an exhibit of his drawings demonstrates the same intense approach to his medium, but only using pen and paper to create haunting and comical scenes depicting human, animal and fantastic fictitious creatures in free and flowing interactions.  The exhibit will also feature pages from Don Omar’s sketch book that caught his strong reaction to the story of George Orwell’s Animal Farm and his own experience of Nicaragua’s tumultuous politics.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, February 28 from 5:30-7:30pm and will include gallery access to all Spring exhibits.  $5 General Public, Free MVC Members.

The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 East Main Street in downtown Ventura. Hours are 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Paid events include free admission to the galleries, and the first Sundays of every month are free general admission for the public.
