The 37th Annual surfing contest hosted by the Ventura Surf Club is taking place on in the Cove, just North of the Pier Labor Day Weekend. There are long and shortboard divisions with riders from age 8 to almost 80. Heats are scheduled from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Then on Sunday, September 3rd there’s a special treat in store featuring an exhibition by Pancho, the surfing dog. He will be out riding the waves at 10:00 am. The Carver Skateboard Company will have ramps set up for a skate challenge on the Promenade. Come on out for this wonderful event that showcases the talents of over 150 talented wave riders and skateboarders.
