Mary Pat Huxley Annie Morgan and the Magic Cape

Mary Pat Huxley lives in California with her dog Faith and her sister Susan. She has a rich inner life with her Lord Jesus, as well as characters that inhabit her imagination.

Her lifelong thirst to know “how things work” has had her learn biology, then teach it; learn how a house is built then remodel portions of her home; imagine how organizations work then learned in graduate school how they do; see if she could run a science laboratory (she did); make and keep good friends; sail, hike, sing, write poetry, and whatever else comes to hand—usually with a chortle in her heart and a quiet smile on her face.

Book Synopsis

Have you ever wished for something so fiercely that it came true? Annie Morgan did.

She was daydreaming while swinging in a porch swing, wishing for someone to love her, like a grandmother or a fairy godmother. She forgot her wish, but it came true anyway.

Her fairy godmother visited one afternoon, right in her bedroom. Annie’s life changed from that afternoon because of the gift of love and the magic cape Sapphire gave her.

Wouldn’t you like to have that happen to you too?

This story captivates children and parents alike. Parents can read it aloud to their child, enjoying the sense of playful magic in the very normal life of Annie Morgan. Children will enjoy Annie and Sapphire, and the wonderful secret that Annie cannot tell anyone, even if she tried: that she has a magic cape and her very own fairy godmother!
