Valentine’s at the VIC
Bring your loved one, or just bring yourself — singles, couples, families, and all others are invited to Ventura Improv Company’s special show devoted to all aspects of love and the trials and tribulations that come with it. This Friday at 8pm at 34 N. Palm St. There will be complimentary chocolates, edibles from the Manly Man Co. , Champagne or sparkling cider, a flower for each member in the audience and fabulous raffle items. Tickets are $15.

Artists Reception at Buenaventura Gallery
Buenaventura Art Association, 700 E. Santa Clara St. presents artist Katie Fagan’s solo show, Step Outside. Step Outside, says Fagan, “is a challenge, trash talk, a rallying cry, to motivate everyone to get out and embrace the natural world.” Come meet Fagan Saturday at the gallery from 5-7pm.
Duets at the Aloft Dancetheatre
Aloft Dancetheatre, 47 S. Oak St. and friends present Duets – songs, dances and whispers on Saturday at 8pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.

See Rock City at the Rubicon
Rubicon Theatre Company, 1006 E. Main St. presents See Rock City by Arlene Hutton, a poignant love story set in 1940’s Appalachia about young newlyweds trying to find their footing in a world on the brink of great change. See Rock Cityruns through Feb.14. The performance schedule is Wed. at 2pm and 7pm, Thurs. and Fri. at 8pm, Sat. at 2pm and 8pm, and Sun. at 2pm.
