No one should have to sleep alone in the cold.
The West Ventura County Winter Warming Shelter is scheduled to open on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and run through the end of March 2017, or as long as funding allows.
The annual shelter assists dozens of needy individuals and families every year (last year, there were more than 800 unduplicated users), by providing a shower, a warm catered meal, a bed and a safe haven during the chilly and rainy winter months.
A new team of workers and volunteers are being assembled to assist with this year’s operation at the Army National Guard Armory in Oxnard at 351 South K Street, and we are asking for the community’s help.
The shelter has a shoestring budget, using funds from the cities of Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo and the County of Ventura, plus some limited emergency shelter funding. Any private monies raised will go to provide the best service we can and ensure the shelter stays open through the end of March.
Thank you for your interest in extending a generous hand and compassionate heart for those who are homeless in our community.
(All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed under law.) For more information, please email Kevin Clerici at email@example.com.
