No one should have to sleep alone in the cold.
The West Ventura County Winter Warming Shelter will open Dec. 21, and is scheduled to run through the end of March 2018, or as long as funding allows.
The annual shelter assists dozens of needy individuals and families every year (last year, there were more than 600 unduplicated users), by providing a shower, a warm catered meal, a bed and a safe haven during the chilly and rainy winter months.
An experienced manager and team of workers, along with volunteers, will operate this year’s shelter at the Army National Guard Armory in Ventura at 1270 Arundell Avenue, and we are asking for the community’s help.
The shelter has a limited budget, using a combination of funds from the cities of Ventura and Oxnard, and the County of Ventura. Any private monies raised will go to provide the best service we can and ensure the shelter stays open through the end of March.
Thank you for your interest in extending a generous hand and compassionate heart for those who are homeless in our community.
